2019 Itinerary
While 2018 was far from a perfect year, it was a year full of exploration, adventure, and more than a few firsts. From kite boarding in the Dominican Republic to a concert in Nashville, a half marathon in Vancouver, and everything in between, there were so many truly unforgettable moments that, standing alone, would have made up for every second of stress, sadness, and frustration I felt throughout the year as life served out its very worst along with its very best.
Now over a month into the new year and settled into the second semester of my junior year at UC Berkeley, Iβve had time to reflect on the past year and plan for the next one. In this time of planning, my future has evolved to include exploration, adventure, and novelty. My excitement for what lies ahead has only grown. Throughout 2019, I know that I will be spending what I can only imagine to be a year of unprecedented growth in all new and familiar destinations, both in my backyard and abroad.
California
Splitting my home base between Lake Tahoe and Berkeley, California, weekend road trips will take me all over California. Destinations on the list so far are listed below, with many more tentative destinations not included.
San Francisco
Point Reyes
Big Sur
Santa Cruz
New Cuyama
San Luis Obispo
San Simeon & Hearst Castle
Mammoth Lakes
Yosemite
Abroad
While spring break brings the opportunity to venture a little further from Doe Memorial Library and to momentarily distance myself from the responsibilities of my studies by traveling somewhere a little more tropical, the fall semester of my senior year promises opportunities for novelty near the end of my undergraduate studies.
Barra de Navidad, Mexico
Maastricht, Netherlands
Come August of this year, I will be calling the beautiful city of Maastricht home for a semester as I study abroad at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Words simply cannot convey my (nervous) excitement as I begin to plan for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; my dreams are filled with the cobblestone roads, iconic architecture, palaces, alps, and European cuisine that I hope will come to exemplify my experience in Europe.
While I am sure my study abroad experience will take me all throughout Europe on weekend trips and field trips, I wonβt know exactly where Iβm going until Iβm there, and Iβm willing to let spontaneity guide my way.
