Welcome to the blog!

I'm a college student based in Berkeley, California but from the North Lake Tahoe area with a major travel bug. Follow along for my adventures with travel, food, fitness, school, and life.

Sitting in the water just off Lake Tahoe's east shore, about a mile south of the popular Sand Harbor beach, lies Bonsai Rock. Aptly named, Bonsai rock is possibly the only granite boulder in the lake that prominently features live shrubbery. A hidden yet iconic Tahoe landmark, Bonsai Rock has been a local treasure for as long as I can remember.

I was born in Tahoe and have lived here my whole life, yet somehow, I hadn't ventured out to this gorgeous jumping rock before. That's where my best adventure buddy, Sophia, comes in. Early one Friday morning, we dragged our selves out of bed and hopped in the car for the short drive from the north shore.

After a short hike down to the water's edge, we were greeted by a view that was nothing short of breathtaking, even with the wildfire smoke that had blown in from other parts of California. While the lake was somewhat busier than we expected, looking out among the many kayakers and paddle boarders enjoying the view reminded me how lucky I am to live in such a magnificent place.

That feeling lingered. Even weeks later, with the start of a new college semester looming, I find myself longing for those summer days and that feeling that only comes from jumping off Tahoe's most scenic rock with one of your very best friends.
